Brazil’s Globoplay has ordered a sixth season of Dori Media Group’s In Treatment, produced locally as Sessão de Terapia by Moonshot.

The psychological drama has been remade in over 20 territories globally, but with the new order, Brazil will hold the record for most produced seasons. Since its third season, the Brazilian adaptation has developed its own original characters and stories, including the introduction of a new therapist.

The fourth season featured Morena Baccarin (Homeland, Deadpool) in her first-ever Portuguese performance as a supervisor to Caio. The following season continued this tradition by passing the supervisory role to Rodrigo Santoro (300, Love Actually).

Brazil’s In Treatment is directed by Selton Mello (I’m Still Here), who has also starred as Caio since season four. The series is adapted by Moonshot’s CEO Roberto d’Avila and the original scripts are by Jacqueline Vargas.

The format was originally created by Sheleg Productions’ Hagai Levi (Scenes from a Marriage, The Affair). Many adaptations have won critical acclaim, including the U.S. version, which saw Dianne West win a prime-time Emmy for outstanding supporting actress in a drama series in 2008.

“We are thrilled that Globoplay and Moonshot are bringing In Treatment back to the Brazilian audience that has enjoyed this special series for many seasons now,” said Nadav Palti, CEO and president of Dori Media Group. “This is a format that continues to resonate across the globe, and we’re excited that others are looking to launch and produce further seasons in the new year as well.”

d’Avila added, “The challenge of being innovative and creating complex, passionate characters within the delicate field of therapy and a globally successful franchise is something we embrace with joy and reflects our artistic mission.”
