TORONTO: Ahead of its world TV premiere, Roots has been picked up by CraveTV for streaming in Canada.

The eight-hour event series from A+E Studios will stream this fall on CraveTV in the Historic TV Collection. CraveTV now has the exclusive Canadian streaming rights for the event series, which comes nearly 40 years after the original legendary mini.

“We’re thrilled to add this star-studded miniseries to CraveTV, introducing Roots to a whole new generation of viewers,” said Mike Cosentino, the senior VP of programming for CTV Networks and CraveTV at Bell Media.

“Nearly 40 years ago I had the privilege to be a part of an epic television event that started an important conversation in America,” said LeVar Burton, co-executive producer and the original Kunta Kinte. “I am incredibly proud to be a part of this new retelling and start the dialogue again, at a time when it is needed more than ever.”
