Counterpart Sells into 40-Plus Territories

Sony Pictures Television (SPT) has placed the espionage drama series Counterpart into more than 40 territories, including France, Spain, Russia, Japan and China.

In Europe, Counterpart was picked up by OCS for France and HBO, which will bring the series across Central Europe and Spain. Viasat World picked up the rights in Russia. Telenet licensed the series in Belgium (Flemish) and MTG did so in the Nordics.

Sohu scooped up the drama in China, with further sales in Asia to WOWOW in Japan and KT in South Korea. Bell Media purchased the series for Canada. D-Smart has taken the show for Turkey, while beIN is going to deliver it across the Middle East.

Counterpart recently debuted on Starz in the U.S., ranking as the network’s number one telecast so far this year.

Keith Le Goy, the president of worldwide distribution at Sony Pictures Entertainment, said: “Counterpart has already captivated audiences in the U.S., and its intriguing story, featuring an extraordinary performance by J.K. Simmons, will have viewers around the world enthralled in each episode.”
