Channel 5 Commissions Psychological Thriller The Hunted

Story Films has been commissioned by Channel 5 to produce the four-part prime-time psychological thriller The Hunted (w.t.) in association with All3Media International.

Starring Kara Tointon (Mr. Selfridge, Urban Myths, Archie) in the lead role, the series follows young, single mother Rachel, who works as a cleaner to give her son the best life she can. When she is hired by an extremely wealthy client for more pay and fewer hours, his behavior becomes increasingly controlling and she uncovers a disturbing story from his childhood.

The Hunted also stars Charlie Hodson-Prior (Roald Dahl’s Matilda the Musical), Allen Leech (Bohemian Rhapsody, The Imitation Game, Downton Abbey), Sara Powell (The Killing Kind, The House Across the Street, Murder in Provence, Doctor Who), Taj Atwal (Trying, Line of Duty, Hullraisers) and John Thomson (Cold Feet, Professor T, Sister Boniface Mysteries).

Cameron McAllister (Coronation Street, Emmerdale, Primeval) is on board as writer for episodes one and three, while Nessah Muthy (Coronation Street, On The Edge, Holby City) is on board for episodes two and four. Megan K. Fox (EastEnders, Fair City, Cailín Álainn) is set to direct the series.

Executive producers are Sam Tipper-Hale and David Nath for Story Films and David Collins for Samson Films, with John Wallace (Redemption, Lola) producing. All3Media International is distributing.

Sebastian Cardwell, deputy chief content officer for the U.K. at Paramount, said: “I’m delighted to be working on another project with the talented team at Story Films. Equipped with a compelling script and stellar cast, The Hunted (w.t.) is another exciting addition to our ever-growing drama slate.”

Tipper-Hale added: “Cameron and Nessah have written a gripping thriller that questions whether the scars of our past have to determine our future.”
