UKTV has acquired three new shows from Sony Pictures Television (SPT) for its crime drama channel Alibi.

The agreement includes Carter, a detective drama commissioned by SPT Networks and produced by Amaze Film + Television. The cast includes Jerry O’Connell (Billions), who plays Harley Carter, a detective on a hit American TV show until he is forced to return to his sleepy hometown after an embarrassing public meltdown in Hollywood.

The deal also covers The Guardian, starring Simon Baker (The Mentalist), and Unforgettable, starring Poppy Montgomery (Without a Trace). Both are coming to Alibi in 2018.

Emma Sparks, UKTV’s head of acquisitions, said: “We are excited to be working with Sony again and look forward to another successful series together. Carter is a show that is bursting with energy, drama and action. We can’t wait to bring Harley Carter’s detective dynamism to the U.K.”

Mark Young, senior VP for the U.K., Iberia and Africa distribution at Sony Pictures Television, said: “We are thrilled to be bringing such a great range of enjoyable series to UKTV audiences. Carter, Unforgettable and The Guardian will have a great home on Alibi and we are excited to continue our relationship with UKTV.”

Michael Souther and Teza Lawrence, executive producers from Amaze Film + Television, added: “Alibi is the perfect home for Carter in the U.K., joining the growing list of international broadcasters partnering on our new series. We think U.K. audiences will fall in love with Jerry O’Connell again.”

Emma Ayech, channel director for Alibi, commented: “Carter is a brilliant, fast-paced new detective drama with a twist. With a star-studded cast and action and adventure around every corner, we are delighted to add Carter to Alibi’s growing slate of glossy crime shows.”
