Breaking Bad Alum Aaron Paul on Board Apple’s Are You Sleeping

New casting details have been revealed for Apple’s Are You Sleeping, starring and executive produced by Academy Award winner Octavia Spencer.

Spencer (Hidden Figures) stars as Poppy Parnell, a relentless investigative reporter who looks to uncover the truth behind a decades-old questionable murder verdict through her new podcast. Emmy Award winner Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad, The Path) has been added to the cast, playing convicted murderer Warren Cave, whose guilt or innocence has remained a question in many people’s minds for the past 20 years. Also set to star in the drama, which begins production this month, are Ron Cephas Jones (This Is Us, Mr. Robot), Lizzy Caplan (Masters of Sex, Cloverfield), Elizabeth Perkins (Weeds, Sharp Objects) and Mekhi Phifer (ER, 8 Mile), among others.

Based on a true-crime novel by Kathleen Barber, Are You Sleeping looks at America’s obsession with true-crime podcasts and challenges its viewers to consider the consequences when the pursuit of justice is placed on a public stage. The series is executive produced by Reese Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter for Hello Sunshine, and Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping and Kristen Campo for Chernin Entertainment, alongside Spencer and Nichelle Tramble.
