BBC Studios Expanding U.S. Scripted Development

BBC Studios is expanding its L.A. production base’s scripted pipeline, with adaptations of Here We Go and Mammoth in the works.

“We’re thrilled to see the momentum behind our scripted formats here in the U.S. continue to build,” said Mark Linsey, president of scripted at BBC Studios’s L.A. base. “Both Here We Go and Mammoth are fantastic examples of the kind of bold, character‑driven British storytelling that resonates with audiences worldwide. Partnering with exceptional American talent and studios to reimagine these series for U.S. viewers is an exciting next step and reflects our ambition to grow BBC Studios’ scripted footprint in this key market.”

Here We Go, originally created and written by Tom Basden, follows a chaotic family through the handheld camera of their teenage son. The U.S. version is in development with Universal Television and is written by Matt Murray. Amy Poehler’s Paper Kite Productions is attached to executive produce.

Mammoth, originally created by Welsh comedian Mike Bubbins, follows a 1970s PE teacher who is frozen in an avalanche in 1979 and revived in 2024, returning to a world that has completely transformed. A U.S. adaptation is being developed with FOX Entertainment.

“These adaptations underscore the strength and versatility of British comedies,” noted Josh Cole, chief creative officer of fiction and comedy at BBC Studios. “Here We Go has grown into one of the BBC’s most distinctive, warmly received family comedies, while Mammoth’s brilliantly unique premise has huge global potential. We’re delighted to see both series attract such strong U.S. interest and look forward to partnering with Paper Kite Productions and FOX Entertainment.”
