Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell (Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Under the Banner of Heaven) have joined the cast of Apple TV+’s untitled live-action series based on Legendary’s Monsterverse franchise.

The Legendary Television production will take place after the battle between Godzilla and the Titans leveled San Francisco and humans realized monsters were real. Emmy Award-nominated Matthew Shakman (WandaVision, The Great) is set to direct the first two episodes.

Shakman will serve as executive producer alongside co-creators Chris Black (Star Trek: Enterprise, Outcast) and Matt Fraction (Hawkeye), as well as Safehouse Pictures’ Tory Tunnell (Underground, King Arthur) and Joby Harold (Obi Wan Kenobe, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts). For Toho Co. Ltd., Hiro Matsuoka and Takemasa Arita will executive produce. Black will also serve as showrunner.

Toho is the owner of Godzilla and other classic characters and has licensed the rights to Legendary for this series.

Kurt and Wyatt Russell join previously announced cast members Anna Sawai, Ren Watabe, Kiersey Clemons, Joe Tippett and Elisa Lasowski.
