Apple TV+ Orders Disclaimer Adaptation from Alfonso Cuarón

Apple TV+ has ordered the thriller series Disclaimer from director, writer, producer, cinematographer and editor Alfonso Cuarón (Roma, Gravity, Children of Men) and his production company Esperanto Filmoj.

Based on the novel of the same name by Renee Knight, Disclaimer centers on a successful documentary journalist whose work has been built on revealing the concealed transgressions of long-respected institutions. She soon has to grapple with the fact that her own darkest secret might soon be revealed in someone else’s novel.

The psychological thriller will star Cate Blanchett (Don’t Look Up, Nightmare Alley, Pinocchio) and Kevin Kline (The Starling, Beauty and the Beast, Broadway’s Present Laughter).

Disclaimer is produced by Esperanto Filmoj and Anonymous Content. Writer and director Cuarón will executive produce, alongside Blanchett, Esperanto Filmoj’s Gabriela Rodriguez and Anonymous Content’s David Levine, Dawn Olmstead and Steve Golin. Knight serves as co-executive producer. Academy Award winner Emmanuel Lubezki (Gravity, Birdman, The Revenant) and Academy Award nominee Bruno Delbonnel (The Tragedy of Macbeth, Inside Llewyn Davis, Darkest Hour) will serve as directors of photography.

The series is the first project to debut as part of Apple TV+ and Cuarón’s multiyear deal. It is also the first time Cuarón has written and directed all episodes of an original series.
