Apple TV+ has given a series order for the new ten-episode drama Bad Monkey, adapted from Carl Hiaasen’s best-selling novel of the same name.

Bad Monkey follows Andrew Yancy (to be played by Vince Vaughn), a one-time detective demoted to restaurant inspector in southern Florida. When a severed arm is found by a tourist out fishing, Yancy is pulled into the world of greed and corruption that decimates the land and environment in Florida and the Bahamas.

The show will be executive produced by Bill Lawrence (Ted Lasso) through his Doozer Productions, along with Matt Tarses, Jeff Ingold and Vaughn. Liza Katzer will serve as co-executive producer.

Lawrence, hailing from Warner Bros. Television where he is under an overall deal, will write the series. Most recently, he was a co-creator for the successful Apple original series Ted Lasso, which was this year’s most Emmy Award-nominated comedy series with 20 nominations and the most Emmy-nominated freshman comedy series ever.
