Apple Adds New TV Project from Reese Witherspoon to Roster

Apple is developing a new TV project, Are You Sleeping, produced by Reese Witherspoon’s production company Hello Sunshine and the studio Chernin Entertainment/Endeavor Content.

The original drama will star Academy Award winner Octavia Spencer (The Shape of Water, Hidden Figures, The Help). Based on the true-crime novel by Kathleen Barber, the series provides a unique look into America’s obsession with true-crime podcasts and challenges its viewers to consider the consequences when the pursuit of justice is placed on a public stage. The series is created and written by Nichelle Tramble Spellman (The Good Wife, Justified).

Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter will executive produce for Hello Sunshine, and Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping and Kristen Campo for Chernin Entertainment, alongside Spencer and Nichelle Tramble.

Sarah Koenig, the creator and executive producer of the true-crime podcast phenomenon Serial, will consult on the series.
