Apple Acquires All Rights for Severance from Fifth Season

Apple has acquired the IP and all rights to its hit psychological thriller Severance from Fifth Season, which produced the series’ first two seasons.

Now, Apple Studios will produce Severance going forward, with Fifth Season serving as an executive producer. The drama is said to cost up to $20 million per episode.

That high cost is set to have placed a financial burden on Fifth Season, which is working on multiple big-budget productions.

The agreement, reported first by Deadline, cost just under $70 million and was finalized at the end of last year.

Apple made a similar deal with AMC Studios for Silo after its first season.
