Amazon Studios has ordered the new series The Banker’s Wife, based on the best-selling novel by Cristina Alger, while the fantasy drama Carnival Row, starring Orlando Bloom and Cara Delevingne, gets a second season.

Amazon Prime Video renewed Carnival Row, the one-hour Amazon Original fantasy drama series from Amazon Studios and Legendary Television, ahead of the show’s debut. The first season will premiere on August 30, exclusively on Amazon Prime Video in over 200 countries and territories worldwide.

Bloom (Pirates of the Caribbean) and Delevingne (Suicide Squad) star in the series, which is set in a Victorian fantasy world filled with mythological immigrant creatures whose exotic homelands were invaded by the empires of man.

The Banker’s Wife is a high-stakes international thriller set in the world of global finance—from Geneva to Paris, London and New York—about two women racing for answers when a mysterious plane crash sets them off on parallel pursuits of truth. Meredith Stiehm (Homeland) will write all eight episodes, with Lesli Linka Glatter (Homeland, Now and Then) directing all eight.

“As soon as we read The Banker’s Wife, we knew this would be a series that our Amazon Prime Video customers will love, a fast-paced, compelling story that pulls you in immediately,” said Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon Studios. “We’re thrilled to be working with Meredith and Lesli to bring their vision to the screen.”
