ABS-CBN & Electric Entertainment Team Up for Off Tropic

ABS-CBN in the Philippines has partnered with the U.S.-based film and TV outfit Electric Entertainment for the crime series Off Tropic.

Set in the city of Cebu in the southern Philippines, Off Tropic is set to feature a Filipina actress as the female lead who will star alongside American actor Christian Kane. Dean Devlin, Electric Entertainment CEO, is serving as executive producer and is set to write the first two episodes and direct the finale of the series, which is slated to air in the U.S. via WGN America.

Ruel S. Bayani, head of international production and co-production division at ABS-CBN, said: “This is a first of many strategic partnerships and collaborations with partners from all over the world and we are very thrilled that we are partnering with a formidable team, Electric Entertainment, to line produce the U.S. series for them.”

Devlin said: “We chose to partner with ABS-CBN because they have been so instrumental in the development of talent here both in front and behind the camera. I think they have the most experience and they have just been amazing partners. This is going to change the way people perceive the entertainment business in the Philippines.”
