ABC Family Gives the Go-Ahead to Guilt & Beyond

BURBANK: ABC Family has ordered to series two new scripted dramas, Guilt and Beyond.

Guilt follows a young American woman in London who becomes the prime suspect in the brutal murder of her roommate. Investigators question whether she’s a naïve young girl who has made some poor decisions, or a sociopath. The series is written, created and executive-produced by Kathryn Price (The Game Plan) and Nichole Millard (The Game Plan). Stephen McPherson will serve as executive producer. Guilt is a co-production of Sea to Sky Entertainment (the joint venture between Lionsgate Television and Thunderbird Films) and BV Family Productions, in association with ABC Family, which will become Freeform in January. Gary Fleder (Kingdom, Scorpion) directed the pilot.

The hour-long drama Beyond follows a young man who awakes from a coma after 12 years and discovers that he has new supernatural abilities that launch him headfirst into a dangerous conspiracy. Beyond is produced by Imperative Entertainment and Automatik and is created, written and executive produced by Adam Nussdorf (Once Upon a Time in Wonderland). Tim Kring (Heroes), Zak Kadison, Justin Levy and Brian Kavanaugh-Jones will serve as executive producers. Lee Toland Krieger (The Age of Adaline) directed the pilot.

“These two shows are an exciting part of our evolution into Freeform,” said Karey Burke, ABC Family’s executive VP of programming and development. “Guilt is a sexy, sophisticated event series whose European location feels bigger than anything we have ever done. Beyond introduces our audience to a new hero and takes them into a complex supernatural universe with great suspense and deep emotion.”
