Spain’s Atresmedia Television has licensed a pair of Turkish dramas in two separate deals, signed with Eccho Rights and Inter Medya.

From Eccho Rights, Atresmedia acquired Ezel, which will broadcast on the Nova channel. The drama is produced by Ay Yapim, whose series Fatmagül is currently already airing on Nova in Spain. Meanwhile, Inter Medya sold Black Money Love to Atresmedia, which will air the Ay Yapim-produced drama on one of its channels.

“The success of Turkish series across LatAm opened up a route into Spain, demonstrating that for a brave broadcaster, there is a really high-quality alternative to traditional telenovelas available now,” said Laura Miñarro, acting head of sales for LatAm and Iberia at Eccho Rights. “We are delighted that Nova is taking a chance on Turkish content.”

José Antonio Antón, director of programming and complementary channels of Atresmedia Television, added, “We are very pleased to have a series of Ezel’s quality for the Nova schedule. The commitment of the channel to continue innovating has had a clear answer from our audiences with unprecedented ratings and impact, and we are sure that this success will continue with this great production.”

Can Okan, founder and CEO of Inter Medya, said, “Following the success of Turkish series in more than 130 countries, this is a very important step for us as we bring Turkish content into the European market. This deal makes us stronger in the business and we can guarantee that further sales will follow in this region.”
