The Danish drama 1864 has been licensed by MHz Networks to launch in the U.S. on its streaming service MHz Choice.
Shot as a feature film and available as eight episodes, it tells a story of love in the time of war, reaching across eras to connect individual lives, confront a nation’s trauma and examine the events of this epic war that formed the self-image of Denmark. “Danish New Wave” director Ole Bornedal read the letters of soldiers to create a factual account.
1864 features an all-star Danish cast, including Sidse Babett Knudsen (Borgen, Westworld), Pilou Asbæk (Borgen, Game of Thrones, The Borgias), Jakob Oftebro (Kon-tiki, Max Manus) and Søren Malling (Government, A Royal Affair).
