Starz Developing Sweetbitter Novel for TV

Starz is in development on a half-hour drama series based on the best-selling book Sweetbitter, written by Stephanie Danler.

Plan B Entertainment tapped Stu Zicherman (The Americans, The Affair) to develop the script with Danler and both will serve as executive producers along with Plan B. A coming-of-age story, Sweetbitter follows 22-year-old Tess, who lands a job at a celebrated downtown restaurant shortly after arriving in New York City and is introduced to the world of drugs, alcohol, love, lust, dive bars and fine dining. Danler has written the script for the first episode.

Starz will retain all global distribution and home-entertainment rights to the series.
