Buccaneer & Cineflix Alums Open High Road Entertainment

Richard Tulk-Hart, former co-CEO of Buccaneer, and James Durie, former head of scripted television at Cineflix Rights, have launched High Road Entertainment.

The company is already working on several projects, including the crime drama Antiparos, in partnership with Tanweer Productions, and the comedy drama Shinjuko Sugar Fox, in partnership with Just John Films.

The new company will not only work on co-productions and develop its own slate of scripted titles, it will also help advise scripted producers across Europe on financing and distribution.

Tulk-Hart and Durie previously worked together at IMG and Miramax. Eventually, Tulk-Hart became co-CEO of Buccaneer, and Durie became head of scripted at Cineflix Rights. In recent years, they worked together on titles such as Whitstable Pearl and So Long, Marianne.

The entity that is now High Road was initially launched last summer by Tulk-Hart as Volteo Media.

“In this fractured market it really feels like there is space for a flexible dynamic approach to getting shows from IP to screen,” Tulk-Hart and Durie said in a statement. “We’re here to join the dots and have done so on a number of shows already. There is no doubt we are in a difficult period for the industry, and what we can do is navigate the key players through every step of the way and make sure a show is given its best chance of making it to screen.”
