Hulu Gives Pilot Order for The X-Files Reboot

Hulu has given a pilot order for a reboot of The X-Files, with Ryan Coogler (Sinners) attached to write and direct.

Jennifer Yale (The Copenhagen Test) is on board as showrunner, and Danielle Deadwyler (The Woman in the Yard, The Piano Lesson, Till) is set to star in a leading role.

In the new series, two highly decorated but vastly different FBI agents form an unlikely bond when they are assigned to a long-closed division devoted to cases involving unexplained phenomena.

The X-Files reboot is being produced by Onyx Collective and 20th Television.

The original series ran for nine seasons from 1993 to 2001, with two extra seasons debuting in 2016 and 2018. Starring David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson, the series followed as a medical doctor is assigned to analyze the case files of a skilled criminal profiler who believes in the paranorml and investigates the “X-files”—unsolved cases that involve paranormal phenomena.
