Sunny Nights Finds U.S. Home on Hulu

Hulu is set to be the exclusive U.S. home of the eight-part darkly comedic crime drama Sunny Nights, with a premiere slated for March 11.

Directed and executive produced by Trent O’Donnell (Hacks, No Activity, Colin from Accounts), the series stars D’Arcy Carden (The Good Place, Barry, The Handmaid’s Tale) and Will Forte (The Four Seasons, The Last Man on Earth, Bodkin) as a brother-and-sister duo. They set up a spray tan business in Sydney, but become entangled in the criminal underworld.

Supporting cast members of the series include Rachel House (Thor: Ragnarok, Heartbreak High, Foundation), Jessica De Gouw (The Couple Next Door, The Artful Dodger, Ladies in Black), Miritana Hughes (Wakefield, Preacher), Ra Chapman (White Fever, Wentworth), Megan Wilding (Gold Diggers, Mystery Road: Origin), and a special appearance from Patrick Brammall (Colin from Accounts, No Activity, The Letdown).

Sunny Nights is produced by Jungle Entertainment (No Activity, Mr. Inbetween) and Echo Lake Entertainment (The Great) in association with Cineflix Rights (The Walsh Sisters; So Long, Marianne; Virdee), with major production investment from Stan and Screen Australia. It is financed with support from Screen NSW through the Made in NSW Fund.

“I couldn’t be more thrilled that American audiences will get to watch Sunny Nights on Hulu,” Carden said. “Will Forte, Trent O’Donnell and I became blood brothers for life while filming in Australia. We had the best, warmest, most talented cast and crew, whom we also became blood brothers with. The writers blew us away with every script. We demanded they become our blood brothers, and they complied. I love this show, and I can’t wait for everyone to see it!”

“I am so excited about Sunny Nights coming to Hulu,” Forte commented. “Working with D’Arcy, Trent and our amazing Australian crew was an incredibly special experience. And I’m thrilled that the show turned out to be as fun and funny as it was to make. I can’t wait for people to see this show!”

“We are thrilled to once again be working with our friends at Hulu, having had such a great experience with their team on The Great,” added Doug Mankoff, executive producer. “We can’t think of a better team to handle this bold series straddling both comedy and drama.”

Jason Burrows, managing director of Jungle Entertainment, said, “Sunny Nights is the rare show that manages to be both hilarious and genuinely suspenseful. It’s a brilliant collaboration between some of the best creatives working today, and Hulu is the perfect home for this kind of smart, darkly comedic crime drama.”

“Will Forte and D’Arcy Carden are both very familiar to U.S. audiences through multiple streaming hits and films and have joined forces with Trent O’Donnell, the acclaimed director and showrunner behind the wildly successful Hacks, Ghosts and Colin from Accounts to create a wonderfully funny dark comedic drama,” commented Greg Johnson, executive VP for the Americas and Asia Pacific at Cineflix Rights. “We’re thrilled for Hulu to stream Sunny Nights, bringing the show to U.S. viewers.”
