Danny Brocklehurst’s Adultery Casts Leads

Dominic Cooper (Preacher, The Devil’s Double) and Romola Garai (One Life, Vigil) are set to star in the lead roles of ITV’s upcoming romance drama Adultery, created and written by Danny Brocklehurst (Fool Me Once, Brassic).

Produced by Poison Pen Studios, part of ITV Studios, for ITV and STV, Brocklehurst’s love story raises questions about class, grief and the effects of social media. Will Sinclair and Daniel O’Hara are on board as directors.

Cooper and Garai will star as Tom Kirkman and Beth Brookes. Tom’s 15-year-old daughter finds love with her schoolmate Ollie, and the two cannot keep their hands off one another. When Tom meets Ollie’s mom, Beth, the two share an immediate and intense connection, and their families’ lives are potentially turned upside down forever.

Also joining the cast are Shelley Conn (Gen V, Bridgerton) as Tom’s wife and Matthew McNulty (Domina, Deadwater Fell) as Beth’s husband. Additional stars are Johnny Sanpher, Leila Khan (Heartstopper, Crookhaven), Andrew Knott (Gavin & Stacey, Protection), James Murray (The Crown, Masters of the Air) and Charley Webb (The Long Shadow, Better).

Adultery is produced in association with ITV Studios, which will distribute the series internationally.

“It’s a wonderful privilege to assemble such an amazing cast for Adultery,” Brocklehurst said. “The characters in our show have complex emotional lives, and we needed the very best acting talent to bring them to the screen. I couldn’t be more thrilled.”

“I am thrilled that we have assembled such a high-caliber cast for Danny’s wonderful scripts,” said Poison Pen Studios’ Ben Stephenson. “Dominic and Romola are two remarkable actors at the peak of their careers, and it’s hugely exciting to see what they bring to this juicy, gripping and complex show alongside their amazing co-leads Matthew and Shelley.”
