RÚV & ZDF Board New Icelandic-German Drama

RÚV in Iceland and ZDF in Germany have commissioned Death of a Horse from ACT4 and Windlight Pictures, with Erik Barmack’s Wild Sheep Content on board as the show’s distributor.

The series is RÚV’s first official contribution to the New8 initiative, an alliance among eight European pubcasters. It was created by ACT4’s Birkir Blær Ingólfsson and Jónas Margeir Ingólfsson and co-written by Judith Angerbauer and Birkir Blær Ingólfsson.

“We’re honored to present Iceland’s first contribution to the New8 collaboration,” said Jónas Margeir Ingólfsson, CEO of ACT4 and executive producer of the series. “It’s a fitting series—a crime-driven yet highly entertaining Icelandic story with great international appeal. With fantastic partners in Windlight Pictures and Wild Sheep Content and a truly valuable cooperation with RÚV and ZDF, Death of a Horse will be a truly unique series from ACT4.”

Death of a Horse is a bold, character-driven series that brings together some of the most exciting creative voices in Europe,” added Moritz Polter, managing director and executive producer of Windlight Pictures. “What excites us about Death of a Horse is not only its powerful storytelling but the spirit of collaboration behind it. ACT4 and Wild Sheep bring such passion and clarity to the project—it’s been a rewarding journey building this series together.”

Erik Barmack, founder and CEO of Wild Sheep Content, added, “Death of a Horse is grounded in Icelandic culture but has clear international appeal, and this partnership reflects exactly the kind of cross-border collaboration we believe in at Wild Sheep.”
