Lifetime Lines Up Next Ripped from the Headlines Film

Lifetime has lined up the next film on its Ripped from the Headlines slate: Girl in the Cellar, starring Kyla Pratt (The Proud Family) and Kelcey Mawema (Cruel Instruction).

Set to debut on August 23, the new movie follows single mother Rebecca, who confines her daughter in their basement cellar after learning she has a secret boyfriend. While her daughter fights for survival, the neighbors begin to notice her absence and Rebecca’s strange behavior.

Unbeknownst to everyone, the cellar she is keeping her daughter locked in is the same cellar she herself was held captive in by her abusive father years prior.

Girl in the Cellar is produced by Navid Soofi for PF Maple Productions in association with Studio TF1 America. Executive producers are Timothy O. Johnson, Meghan Hooper White and Amelia Burstyn. Robert Adetuyi directs from a script written by Eva Gonzalez Szigriszt.

The new movie joins Lifetime’s Ripped from Headlines slate of titles, which also includes Girl in the Attic, Girl in the Garage, The Girl Locked Upstairs, Girl in the Video, Girl in Room 13, Girl in the Basement, Girl in the Bunker, Girl in the Box and Girl in the Shed, among others.
