Filming Begins on After the Flood Season Two

Quay Street Productions has begun filming the second season of ITV and BritBox’s thriller After the Flood.

Written by BAFTA-nominated writer and actor Mick Ford, season two finds newly promoted detective Jo Marshall, played by Sophie Rundle (Gentleman Jack, Peaky Blinders), working a new murder investigation that begins when a body is discovered in bizarre circumstances as tensions simmer in Waterside.

Marshall’s race to stop the killer brings her into direct conflict with dark and influential forces within the town, ultimately drawing her into an investigation that becomes deeply personal—one that requires her to operate in secret if she is to have any hope of rooting out the corruption that has run rampant in the town’s police force and her own family for decades.

In addition to Rundle, other cast members reprising their roles for season two are Nicholas Gleaves (The Crown, The Rising), Lorraine Ashbourne (Alma’s Not Normal, Sherwood, Bridgerton), Philip Glenister (Belgravia, Life on Mars) and Matt Stokoe (The Hunt For Raoul Moat, The Bodyguard). Others are Tripti Tripuraneni (House of the Dragon, Casualty), Heider Ali (You Don’t Know Me), Leo Flanagan (Gentleman Jack, Four Lives), Jacqueline Boatswain (Little Disasters, The Sandman), Faye McKeever (Adolescence, The Responder), George Bukhari (Ridley, Black Cab) and Maui Connock (After the Flood).

New for season two are Alun Armstrong (Breeders, Sherwood), Jill Halfpenny (The Red King, The Long Shadow), Ian Puleston-Davies (Pennyworth, Tin Star), Matthew McNulty (The Jetty, The Rising), Oliver Nelson (The Gathering, Home Fires), Roger Morlidge (The Bank of Dave, Chemistry of Death), Lola Brown and Tony Marshall (Sister Boniface Mysteries, Casualty).

The new episodes will eventually premiere on ITV1 and STV, with streaming available on ITVX, STV Player and BritBox in North America, Australia and the Nordics. ITV Studios is handling international distribution.

“To attract such talented household names to the series is a testament to the brilliant writing by Mick Ford, once again writing such a thrilling story filled to the brim with interesting and compelling characters,” said Andy Pryor, casting director for Quay Street Productions. “We couldn’t be happier with the caliber of talent we have both returning and joining After the Flood for series two. Each cast member is perfect for their role, and we are looking forward to seeing how they bring their characters to life on-screen.”
