Global Agency Brings Vendetta Stars to Cannes

Bariş Baktaş and Yağmur Yüksel, the stars of the hit Turkish drama Vendetta, tell TV Drama about taking on the lead roles in the Global Agency-distributed series.

Global Agency held an event in Cannes with the pair of leading actors to celebrate the success of Vendetta, which comes from Uniq Film, Rains Pictures and Kanal 7. Yüksel and Baktaş star as Dilan and Baran, respectively. The story follows the marriage they are forced into to end a blood feud despite the hostility of those around them, igniting a passion that will either blossom into love or bring devastation.

Yüksel said she was attracted to the role because she saw similarities with herself. “I was very curious about Dilan’s story,” said Yüksel.

For Baktaş, he had previously written a story very similar to the series himself—even with the lead character named Baran. “It’s been an amazing coincidence,” he said.

Yüksel added that the story has resonated around the world and that she’s received a lot of fan praise from outside of Turkey. “I’m really happy to receive this kind of interest from fans,” she said.

“Our series is getting interest from everywhere,” said Baktaş, highlighting LatAm, Europe—and Spain, in particular—as well as CEE, the Balkans and the Far East. “It is resonating all around the world.”

The series’ third season is being aired daily on Kanal 7. It has racked up 201 commercial hours in the first season and 319 commercial hours in the second season.
