Eccho Rights has added to its MIPCOM slate The Cost of Lies, a new Turkish drama from O3 Medya.

The series centers on a dutiful man working a modest job at a mint, whose life falls apart after he is fired for innocently creating a special commemorative coin for his son. His brother, a charismatic swindler, takes the opportunity to work with his brother and start counterfeiting money.

Production is currently underway for the series, which stars Timuçin Esen (Hekimoglu), Çağlar Ertuğrul (The Shadow Team), Şükran Ovalı (Yargi) and Deniz Baysal (Mrs. Fazilet and Her Daughters).

The Cost of Lies is directed by Ugur Karaaslan and written by Sema Ali Erol, Mahir Erol, Ayşenur Sıkı and Türküler Özgül. Mehmet Ada Öztekin is the showrunner for O3 Medya. It is being produced under the local title Kalpazan for Show TV in Turkey.

“This is a fantastic and unique project that will both thrill audiences but also find a way into their hearts, [with] a story that is grounded in family issues and burgeoning romances,” said Handan Özkubat, director of Turkish drama at Eccho Rights. “We are so excited to present it to our clients.”

Saner Ayar, executive producer and managing partner at O3 Medya, added, “This project captivated me with its profound emotional depth and unexpected twists. With the remarkable on-set collaboration of our showrunner, director, and the outstanding performances from the entire cast, I am thrilled to witness this project transform into a true visual masterpiece.”
