Shadow Lines Gets Second Season on Elisa Viihde, Lands U.S. Deal

Elisa Viihde has commissioned a second season of the 1950s spy series Shadow Lines, which has been sold to AMC Networks’ Sundance Now for the U.S., Canada and the U.K.

Filming of the second season will begin later this month and will air on Elisa Viihde’s Aitio streaming service in late 2021. An Elisa Viihde original series, the first season of the spy thriller follows the CIA and KGB’s attempts to influence the Finnish presidential elections in Helsinki in 1955. Season two centers on the beginnings of Kekkonen’s presidency in 1956.

About Premium Content has lined up a host of new broadcast deals for the series. In addition to Sundance Now, the drama sold to SBS in Australia, Viasat World’s Epic Drama Channel across Central and Eastern Europe, Baltics and CIS, RTP2 in Portugal, Proximus in Belgium, AMC’s Sundance TV in Spain and in Switzerland both public broadcaster RTS and cable channel UPC.
