Berlinale Series Sets Drama Premieres

Seven drama series—hailing from Denmark, Germany, the U.K., France, Israel, Austria and Sweden—will have their premieres as part of the Berlinale Series program.

The British series Hanna, which will launch on Amazon Prime Video, is about a 14-year-old girl who goes out into the world after years of isolation. Trained by her father to be a highly skilled assassin, she has never learned how to interact with other people. She embarks on a journey across Europe and, in the process, becomes both the hunter and the hunted.

From Austria, M: A City Hunts a Murderer (M: Eine Stadt sucht einen Mörder) is David Schalko’s interpretation of the classic film M. Broadcasters are ORF and TV NOW.

Twice Upon a Time (Il était une seconde fois) from ARTE in France centers on Vincent, who is unable to get out from under the spell of a simple square box that allows him to travel back to an alternative past.

The Swedish Netflix original Quicksand (Störst av allt) is a tale of how far a person will go for somebody else.

From Sky Deutschland in Germany, 8 Days (8 Tage) takes place as an asteroid hurtles towards the Earth and a family in Berlin tries to reach safety.

The Israeli series False Flag, a Keshet Broadcasting drama, returns with a second installment. Denmark’s Follow the Money III (Bedrag III), a Nordic noir for DR1, is also returning with a new chapter.

Berlinale Series will show the first two episodes of each series. The festival will show all four episodes of the French miniseries Twice Upon a Time. Joel Kinnaman and Mireille Enos will be on hand to present Hanna alongside young talent Esmé Creed-Miles.
