The Amazing Race, Big Bang Theory Top Draws in Canada in 2013

TORONTO: For the first time in several years, a Canadian series is the most-watched program in the country, The Amazing Race Canada, according to full-year data from BBM Canada.

Overall, for regularly scheduled TV programs in 2013, The Amazing Race Canada was the top draw, with an average audience of 3.5 million. The Big Bang Theory was second, with 3 million viewers, and The Amazing Race 22 and 23 third with 2.5 million viewers. Under the Dome (2.43 million) and Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D(2.41 million) round out the top 5. The top 10 are, in order, Survivor: Caramoan (2.28 million) and Survivor: Blood vs Water (2.28 million), Grey's Anatomy (2.27 million), Hockey Night in Canada: East (2.22 million), The Blacklist (2.19 million) and CSI: (2.1 million).

Canada's top 10 drama programs of 2013 see Under the Dome in the top spot, followed by Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Grey's Anatomy, The Blacklist, CSI, NCIS, Bones, Person of Interest, Castle and NCIS: Los Angeles. For comedies, The Big Bang Theory led the pack, followed by Two and a Half Men, The Big Bang Theory Monday through Friday runs, Mom, The Goldbergs, The Millers, Trophy Wife, 2 Broke Girls, The Simpsons and Hot in Cleveland.

Of the new shows to hit Canada this year, The Amazing Race Canada, Under the Dome and Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.Dranked as the top 3 most watched. The list of new series, ranked by viewership, follows as The Blacklist, The Following, MasterChef Junior, Sleepy Hollow, Hostages, Vegas and Golden Boy. Canada's top 10 specialty series of 2013 were, in order, The Bible, Vikings, The Walking Dead, Longmire, The Glades, Big Brother Canada, Gold Rush, Doctor Who, Duck Dynasty and Bates Motel. For pay TV, the top series are Game of Thrones and True Blood, followed by Shake It Up!, The Next Step and Good Luck Charlie. Rounding out the top 10 for pay TV are, in order, The Newsroom, Boardwalk Empire, Dog with a Blog, Real Time with Bill Maher and Sofia the First.
