Portfolio Entertainment has expanded into feature film distribution, unveiling a MIPCOM slate that includes three new acquisitions and a remastered holiday classic.

Ghost Messenger, the first part of a feature-length anime trilogy from South Korea’s Studio Animal, is aimed at audiences ages 14 and up. The movie tells the story of Kang-Lim, a “ghost messenger” who travels from the Land of the Dead to retrieve rogue spirits who refuse to leave the physical realm when their time has come. When an unknown force begins unleashing mythological demons to disrupt the strict balance of the lands of the dead and the living, Kang-Lim teams up with a human boy who has extraordinary spiritual powers in an effort to restore order. Part two of the trilogy is currently in development.

Also on the slate is Archons, produced by A Farewell To Kings Entertainment Company, a new horror thriller starring Rob Raco (Riverdale). The feature tells the tale of a struggling rock group called Sled Dog who set out on an expedition into the wilderness in search of inspiration following the release of their latest album, another critical and commercial failure. Armed with a guitar and a bag of psychedelic drugs, the band soon begins to encounter strange events.

Modern Classic, meanwhile, is a satirical tale of a strange and disastrous foray into the film industry. Jono, a timid commercial director hungry for his first feature film, and Dave, an aspiring actor who is determined to show he is a talented artist, learn the hard way that the film industry isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Jono struggles with his identity as a director while Dave succumbs to the dark side of the alcoholic, depressed lead character he’s set to play on screen. Modern Classic is produced by OPC Productions.

Lastly, Stolen Miracle is a holiday classic produced by Portfolio Entertainment. Starring Leslie Hope (24, NCIS, The Mentalist), the film is a powerful drama based on the true story of a parent’s worst nightmare, retelling the real-life Christmas Eve abduction of a newborn baby. In her determination to bring the baby home for Christmas, a hard-working cop and mother of two rekindles the loving bond that keeps her own family together. Stolen Miracle is being newly released, remastered in HD.

“After nearly three decades of success as a leading distributor in the kids’, family and unscripted genres, expanding into feature-length content felt like the obvious next step for Portfolio Entertainment,” said Donnie MacIntyre, VP of sales and business development. “The rapidly expanding market of VOD platforms around the world is creating new distribution opportunities for captivating, high-quality content in all formats, and this announcement we’re making today positions Portfolio to take advantage of these new opportunities.”
