Toronto-based Media Headquarters (MHQ) has made several changes to its team, including upping Melanie Brobyn to executive producer and VP.

Brobyn has worked at Media Headquarters for over 13 years as VP of production and business affairs. In her new position, she will oversee all aspects of the company’s slate of productions from inception to completion and act as the liaison between the company’s development, production, financial, legal and communications teams.

Other changes include the addition of industry veteran Dave Shippel, who is joining the team as chief financial officer. Shippel has previously held senior financial leadership roles at such companies as Nelvana, Epitome Pictures and DHX Media (now WildBrain). As chief financial officer at MHQ, he will oversee all financial activities and apply his experience to support the company’s growth.

Rounding out the team’s expansion is Drew Carnwath, who is now serving as a development producer at MHQ. Carnwath, who brings over 15 years of experience in unscripted television, has worked on award-winning unscripted series for both independent production companies and in-house at CBC and Bell Media.

Robert Cohen, CEO and Founder at Media Headquarters, said: “Since the repurchase of Media Headquarters, the company has entered an exciting new chapter, growing rapidly and pursuing new opportunities and partnerships. We have the largest and most diverse slate of content yet, and these new promotions and hires will support our ongoing development and production goals.”

Cohen added: “I’m thrilled to welcome Dave to Media Headquarters, as his deep understanding of the television marketplace will help steer us into our next chapter, and Drew, whose creative talents will be an asset to our team. Additionally, Melanie’s new role is an exciting next step given her exceptional experience producing hit television projects.”
