TORONTO: A new unscripted live-action series from FORTÉ Entertainment and Headtrip Films, encouraging kids to use photography to tell stories about themselves and the world around them, has been given the green light by Kids’ CBC.

Snapshots is slated to begin airing in Canada this September. Producers FORTÉ and Headtrip have already inked a deal with Warner Bros. to option the format rights to the show in New Zealand.

The 6×30-minute production is from co-creators and executive producers Andrea Gabourie and Mitch Gabourie. In each episode, three school-aged children will compete in a photography competition. A companion website will enable kids from across Canada to engage in a digital spin-off competition inspired by challenges from the show.

“Today, photography touches every part of our lives,” said Andrea Gabourie. “It’s become a language through which we communicate, especially with social media and the full Snapshots experience allows kids of all ages, across Canada to tap into this medium.”

Mitch Gabourie added, “Kids are particularly drawn to photography because it’s an immediate and creative expression of their own point of view. Snapshots encourages kids to develop their creative voice and share their own stories.”
