TORONTO: Jenna Bourdeau, a former Proper Rights exec, has been named the senior director of acquisitions for Canada’s pubcaster CBC.

Bourdeau will oversee the acquisition of Canadian and international content for CBC’s platforms. She’ll report directly to Sally Catto, the general manager of programming.

Prior taking the CBC post, Bourdeau was the VP of distribution at Proper Rights. Before that she co-founded and served as co-president of Buzz Taxi Communications (which was acquired by Proper Rights in 2013), where she built a catalogue that boasted more than 500 hours of high-quality programming.

“I’m so pleased to have Jenna leading our acquisitions strategy at the CBC,” Catto remarked. “She is highly respected throughout the industry, both at home and abroad—I know that her strong creative instincts and leadership will be crucial as we continue to move our content strategy forward.”

Bourdeau added: “I’m thrilled to have joined the CBC programming team as we continue to build a schedule full of engaging and compelling shows. I’m particularly excited that CBC will also offer top-notch international content to Canadian audiences as part of our strategy and look forward to contributing to its success.”
