Canada’s The Movie Network Licenses Twentieth Century Fox Films

TORONTO: Bell Media’s The Movie Network has secured a pact with Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution that includes first-run theatrical movies from Twentieth Century Fox, Fox Searchlight Pictures and Fox 2000.

Through the deal, a wide range of films will be made available for subscribers of The Movie Network and The Movie Network Encore. This includes The Martian, Fantastic Four, The Peanuts Movie, X-Men: The Last Stand and Wall Street.

Films will be offered on all available platforms, including on-air, on demand and on TMN GO. The deal also permits Fox theatrical titles to be made available to subscribers of Movie Central in Western Canada until The Movie Network completes its national expansion later this year.

“Fox has an outstanding slate of new feature film titles, not only in the pay-television window, but currently in theaters and in production, plus an incredible collection of epic library titles,” said Tracey Pearce, the senior VP of specialty and pay at Bell Media. “We’re thrilled to increase the volume of first-run features and classic movies for our subscribers, and continue to offer audiences the best value proposition for premium film and television content.”

Evan Scheffel, the senior VP of pay television and SVOD for Fox, added, “The Movie Network is the leading premium pay-TV service in Canada, and we are thrilled that our films will be added to its stellar lineup.”
