Canada’s CBC Reveals First Round of Renewals

Canadian public broadcaster CBC has made an initial round of original scripted and unscripted renewals for the 2019-20 season, so far confirming 17 titles coming back with fresh episodes.

Sally Catto, general manager of programming at CBC, said: “CBC is where Canada’s best creative talent come to tell their stories. The return of such a wide range of original series produced by homegrown creators is a testament to how strongly our Canadian storytelling is connecting with audiences on all platforms.”

Among the renewals are Anne with an E, set for season three; Baroness Von Sketch Show, for season four; Burden of Truth, season three; and Coroner, season two. Also coming back for 2019-20 are The Detectives (season two), Dragons’ Den (season 14), Frankie Drake Mysteries (season three), The Great Canadian Baking Show (season three), Heartland (season 13) and In the Making (season two). Additional highlights on the returning slate include Kim’s Convenience (season four), Murdoch Mysteries (season 13), Schitt’s Creek (season six) and Still Standing (season five).
