Canada’s shomi Scores NBCU Exclusives

TORONTO: The Canadian SVOD service shomi has landed a deal with NBCUniversal, including exclusive streaming rights for such series as Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce.

Other shomi exclusives include 12 Monkeys, Dig, State of Affairs, Royal Pains and Warehouse 13. This is in addition to Chicago Fire, Chicago PD and Parenthood.

On a non-exclusive basis, shomi now has the rights to stream Friday Night Lights, Kings, Covert Affairs, Quantum Leap and Battlestar Galactica. They join The Office, 30 Rock and Parks and Recreation.

Also covered under the pact is a slate of more than 375 movies.

“Quirky comedies like The Office and Parks and Recreation, family dramas like Parenthood and Friday Night Lights, thrilling series like 12 Monkeys and Dig—all of these are a perfect fit for shomi,” said Marni Shulman, the head of content and programming at shomi. “We’re delighted to feature all this great content from NBCUniversal on the shomi schedule.”
