TORONTO: Breakthrough Entertainment and Chad Archibald's Black Fawn Films have signed a production agreement that sees the companies producing eight genre features over the next 24 months.

Archibald, an acclaimed horror filmmaker, is on board for two of the movies, while Cody Calahan (Antisocial) will direct another two titles. The films will be produced by Calahan and Christopher Giroux and distributed globally by Breakthrough Entertainment. Executive producers will include Breakthrough partners Nat Abraham, Ira Levy, Michael McGuigan and Peter Williamson.

"We had such a great experience with Chad and Black Fawn on Antisocial and The Drownsman that we are truly excited to be able to continue our relationship with the production of eight films over the next two years," said Williamson.

Archibald noted: "Our eight-picture deal creates an exciting genre showcase for buyers worldwide and presents extraordinary opportunities for Canadian creative talent. We look forward to working with notable up-and-coming Canadian writers, directors and filmmakers as we embark on these projects."

Tim Brown, executive VP of feature films for Breakthrough Entertainment, added: "Chad Archibald is among today's most talented genre filmmakers and we are extremely pleased about creating what we believe will be an extraordinary horror franchise with him and Black Fawn Films. Our collaboration has already generated two feature films that have attracted significant global attention and we are excited to keep the momentum going and growing."
