MONTREAL: The deal between Bell Media and Cirque du Soleil for a joint venture to create content for multiple platforms has closed, with the new entity to be led by Jacques Méthé.

The Montreal-based Cirque du Soleil Media will develop content for television, film, digital and gaming platforms. Méthé will serve as president, with the venture to be governed by a board of directors encompassing executives from both Cirque du Soleil and Bell Media. The news of the deal’s closing comes ahead of the December 21 CTV premiere of the 3D feature Cirque du Soleil: Worlds Away, written and directed by Andrew Adamson and executive produced by James Cameron.

“Cirque du Soleil and Bell Media together can deliver more incredible content to more consumers than ever before,” said Kevin Crull, the president of Bell Media. “We’ve got so many ideas just waiting to be brought to life.”

“With Cirque du Soleil Media, we are defining a new type of creative platform for Cirque du Soleil combined with the expertise and commitment of Bell Media,” said Daniel Lamarre, the president and CEO of Cirque du Soleil.
