Turner is bringing three new channels to Japan in 2018 on NTT DOCOMO’s subscription streaming service dTV Channel, including Boomerang.

The deal marks Boomerang’s first launch in the Japanese market. The brand-new services launching in January 2018 on dTV Channel are MONDO Mah-jong TV and Tabi Tele. Turner’s Japanese portfolio already includes Cartoon Network, MONDO TV, TABI Channel and CNN International.

MONDO Mah-Jong TV will focus on content about the popular game, including the Mondo Mah-jong Pro League competition. Tabi Tele will offer up programming on tourist locations in Japan as well as in Europe and Hawaii.

Tom Perry, general manager of Turner Japan, said, “The launch of the three new channels with our partner NTT DOCOMO enables Turner to continue growing audiences in this very important market. Subscribers of dTV Channel will be able to experience a variety of unique local programming, as well as some of the world’s most popular international animation localized for Japanese families.”
