SINAGPORE: ScreenSingapore, which will run alongside the Asia TV Forum, is hosting the world premiere of The Last Tycoon on December 4.

The film is directed by Wong Jing and is produced by Andrew Lau. Chow Yun-fat, Huang Xiao Ming, Sammo Hung and Yolanda Yuan star in the feature. The movie is an adaptation of a true story about a gangster who ruled Shanghai in the 1920s and ’30s. Bona Film Group produced the film, which is distributed by Distribution Workshop.

The red-carpet premiere of the Chinese film will take place on the opening night of ScreenSingapore at Shaw Theatres Lido. This year, ScreenSingapore is co-located with the Asian TV Forum, held from December 4 to 7.

Greg Coote, the chairman of the board of ScreenSingapore, said, “We are thrilled that Singapore will be the first country in the world to screen this epic Chinese drama at ScreenSingapore. The much-welcomed decision by Bona Film Group reaffirms Asia as the rising market for filmed entertainment and Singapore is a great place to highlight the talents and opportunities that exist here.”
