TOKYO: Nippon Television Network’s (NTV) new drama Ranma 1/2, based on the popular comic book and anime series of the same name, is to broadcast on the Japanese channel of the Taiwan cable network Videoland the day after its debut in Japan.

The action comedy series stars Yui Aragaki as a boyish girl who practices martial arts and is determined to inherit her father’s training hall, although the successor is expected to be a man. The man chosen (Kento Kaku) is his daughter’s husband-to-be and he has a secret—he turns into a girl when splashed with water. The story line is based on comics that were serialized in Japan from 1987 to 1996 and have been translated into various languages for the international market.
