TOKYO/LOS ANGELES: Japan’s Nippon TV has established NTV Asia Pacific (NTVAP), a local subsidiary based in Singapore.

The Japanese network is set to make a $1 million capital contribution in the venture. Hidetoshi Hiramatsu, currently Nippon TV’s managing director of international business development, will assume the new role of representative at NTVAP next month.

The formation of the subsidiary follows Nippon TV’s recent joint venture with Sony Pictures Television Networks to launch a new channel called GEM in Hong Kong, Thailand, Indonesia and Cambodia. NTVAP joins Nippon TV’s other overseas companies, such as the New York-based NTV International Corporation and the Amsterdam-headquartered NTV Europe.
