TOKYO: Nippon Television Network Corporation (Nippon TV) is gearing up for MIPCOM 2016 with a slate that features several new titles, including two fresh formats and a drama series.

Nippon TV’s Burning Questions! is a true-or-false quiz show format comprised of 60 episodes. The hour-long studio game show sees celebrity contestants battle it out to get the most points and win a top prize. Another new format on the roster is the 60-episode title The Character. In this futuristic show, anime gurus bring to life 2D characters, overseeing the details of their design, configuration, voice selection, theme music, dance choreography and 3D animation.

The 10×60-minute drama series Pretty Proofreader follows 28-year-old Etsuko, whose lifelong dream is to become an editor for a fashion magazine. She lands a proofreading job at a publishing house and finds that her bold and daring style leads to one problem after another.

Nippon TV’s MIPCOM slate will also feature the format Dragons’ Den, which has 29 versions in 184 countries. In addition, the drama series The Last Cop is heading into its second season.

“We are extremely proud to be the top-rated broadcast network in Japan for the past two consecutive years and this is thanks in part to our highly successful formats, Burning Questions! and The Character, currently airing on Nippon TV,” commented Atsushi Hatayama, who was recently appointed as the company’s president of international business development. “MIPCOM is the perfect platform for us to showcase these titles to the international buyers around the world. In addition, we are confident our new drama series, Pretty Proofreader, will resonate well in all territories, as has our incredibly successful Dragons’ Den, which is a phenomenal hit worldwide. We have much to be proud of.”
