NHK Drama Makes Its Way Across Asia

TOKYO: Ama-chan, NHK's hit morning drama, is scheduled to begin airing in Taiwan and Thailand in November and February, respectively.

Set in Northern Japan, Ama-chan follows the life of a female diver living in the aftermath of the 2011 earthquake that devastated the nation. NHK Enterprises finalized acquisition deals for the title with Videoland Television Network in Taiwan and TrueVisions in Thailand. The show, which has been available in Hawaii since June, will air on Videoland Television Network's Japanese channel with Chinese subtitles, and will be dubbed into Thai for broadcast in Thailand.
