New Members for MediaCorp’s Board of Directors

SINGAPORE: MediaCorp has appointed Chan Yeng Kit and Yap Chee Keong to its board of directors, effective immediately.

Yeng Kit is permanent secretary of the Ministry of Defense, after serving as permanent secretary of the then-Ministry of Information, Communications and the Arts from 2007 to 2012. For two years, starting in 2005, Yeng Kit was the CEO of the Infocomm Development Authority (IDA). Meanwhile, Chee Keong is the non-executive chairman of NetLink Trust, which owns and operates the fibre network of Singapore’s Next Generation Broadband Network. He serves on the boards of Tiger Airways Holdings, Citibank Singapore, Straits Trading Company, ARA Asset Management, InterOil Corporation, Certis Cisco Security and Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority (ACRA). He is also a member of the Public Accountants Oversight Committee. Chee Keong has held senior leadership roles in several multinational and listed companies.

Teo Ming Kian, the chairman of MediaCorp, stated: “Yeng Kit and Chee Keong are key additions to the MediaCorp board. Yeng Kit has extensive experience serving in government and a long and distinguished history of involvement in the infocomm and media industries. Chee Keong brings with him over 30 years’ experience in finance and accounting, corporate governance and strategic planning in both listed and non-listed companies across sectors, and he has played an integral role in the transformation of several of these companies. They add to the diversity of the board that is critical to helping MediaCorp address the challenges and opportunities in this very exciting industry.”

Former MediaCorp directors Fang Ai Lian, advisor to Far East Organisation, Chan Heng Kee, permanent secretary of the Ministry of Social and Family Development and Dr. Thomas Ng, co-founder of GGV Capital stepped down at the company’s Annual General Meeting on September 2, 2015.
