New CEO at Network Ten

SYDNEY: Ten Network Holdings has announced that James Warburton is leaving his post as the CEO and managing director of the company, to be replaced by Hamish McLennan.

McLennan is currently the executive VP in the office of the chairman at News Corporation and the chairman of REA Group. He will remain the non-executive chairman of REA Group when taking on the new post at Ten. Russel Howcroft, the executive general manager at Network Ten, will act as CEO until McLennan arrives at the company on March 18.

Lachlan Murdoch, the chairman of Ten, said: “The Board would like to thank James Warburton for his hard work and contribution during what has been a difficult period for the Company and for the broader media sector. He steps down with Ten’s best wishes.”

Murdoch added: “The Board is delighted to have been able to attract a world-class CEO with a strong track record to lead Ten.”

McLennan commented: “Ten is a media business with a strong balance sheet and excellent staff. I look forward to leading Ten through a period of creative renewal and financial growth.”
