LOS ANGELES: Metan Development Group has picked up Next Media Elite's weekly entertainment news series PopStop TV and its Mandarin-language companion program Hollywood Now for the recently launched Hollywood channel on Tudou in China.

The shows will kick off on Hollywood with live Red Carpet coverage and interviews from this year's Film Independent Spirit Awards on March 1 and the 2014 Academy Awards on March 2. The network will also offer up-to-the-minute short-form content from both programs daily on Tudou, the video-sharing website where the Hollywood channel lives.

"PopStop TV and Hollywood Now are the perfect complement to our flagship series Hello! Hollywood," said Gordon Chu, the VP of business development at Metan. "Hollywood is quickly becoming China's go-to network to all things from the world of celebrity and pop culture, and is delivering on its promise to be the bridge between China and the Western entertainment world."

"We're delighted to be joining the Hollywood Channel," noted XiXi Yang, co-founder of NME and executive producer for the series. "The channel provides a powerful way to reach the hundreds of millions of pop culture and entertainment fans in China, and PopStop TV and Hollywood Now will definitely have great appeal to the channel's viewer base."

Don Mathison, partner and CEO of Broadband Solutions Group, added: "PopStop TV and Hollywood Now have achieved great success in North America and China. With this additional distribution on Tudou via Hollywood channel, we can now reach millions and millions of additional viewers who are passionate about celebrity, entertainment and pop culture news."
