SINGAPORE: Singaporean broadcaster MediaCorp has licensed 1,000 hours of content to Vietnamese distributor Goldia One Vision Company as part of a flurry of recent deals in the country.

Goldia One Vision has licensed all dramas produced by MediaCorp for distribution to both terrestrial and cable outlets. In addition, TV Pro Company Ltd picked up 350 hours, mostly Chinese-language dramas, for its THVL 1 and THVL 2 channels. These are new Vietnamese clients for MediaCorp, which has previously sold a number of shows to Today TV.

Tang Yun Leung, VP of content distribution at MediaCorp, commented, “To be able to penetrate the market with close to 1,500 hours of content in just two quarters is definitely a feat we hope to continue into the future. With these numbers, we should be able to reach out to more TV viewers in Vietnam and develop a permanent viewing pattern for our TV content. Vietnam is a developing market which we place great importance on. We see more room for growth moving forward and in the pipeline are plans to export our formats to Vietnam as well."
