SINGAPORE: TVB in Hong Kong and 8TV in Malaysia have picked up more than 100 hours of content from MediaCorp.

TVB’s pay-TV channel opted for two seasons of My Star Guide, a travelogue format that follows celebrities as they take tour groups to exotic locations. TVB previously agreed to other travel-related shows, such as Quaint, Bliss Seeker and Asia Footprints, as well as the home decor title Renaissance.

Media Prima Berhad’s 8TV—geared toward urban youth and Chinese viewers—signed up for a number of MediaCorp dramas, including A Song To Remember, Devotion, Love Thy Neighbour and Rescue 995.

Tang Yun Leung, the VP of MediaCorp’s content distribution division, commented: "The Hong Kong viewers are very selective and TVB itself is a strong content producer, we are glad to have made inroads into the market through our variety, especially travel-related programs. The Hong Kong viewers seem to enjoy our brand of variety programs, which has even opened up opportunity for one of our popular hosts Pornsak who is slated to appear in a TVB travel program. We are also excited by the changing climate in the Hong Kong entertainment scene as more FTA licenses are expected to be made available in the market."
